About The Author

Michael Aylesworth knows Scouting from the inside. An Eagle Scout, high school teacher, and longtime youth advocate, he grew up within an institution that taught him about leadership, responsibility, community, and what it meant to be a boy.

It also left him with questions that took years to fully understand.

In Boy Pageant, Michael revisits those years with the benefit of hindsight, bringing humor and candor to a story about growing up gay, searching for belonging, and eventually realizing that becoming yourself may be the most important badge you earn.
